KAFUI FOUNDATION FOR CHILDHOOD DIABETES (KFCD) MEETS WITH STAFF AND TYPE 1 (DIABETES) GROUP OF THE ACHIMOTA HOSPITAL

The Kafui Foundation for Childhood Diabetes (KFCD), paid a visit to the Achimota Hospital on 26th June, 2014 to mark the 2nd anniversary of the establishment of the Foundation. The Foundation met with the Head of the Diabetes Clinic, Dr. (Mrs.) Natalya Brightson, other staff members and some members of the Type 1 (Diabetes) Group who attend and receive care at the Achimota Hospital in Accra.

The time of interaction with members of the Type 1 (Diabetes) Group was very useful. In a short presentation, Dr. Joseph Nelson of The Trust Hospital, a member of the Foundation, gave a brief overview of the disease stressing the fact that even though there was no cure for it, one could live a healthy and long life if one took care of oneself.

The Foundation donated bed sheets and pillow cases to the Diabetes Clinic, and in receiving them, Dr. (Mrs.) Brightson expressed the gratitude of the Achimota Hospital and the Diabetes Clinic for a much needed focus in this particular area of health care. She encouraged the members to assist in whatever way they could especially in the production and distribution of (diabetes) educational materials for Type 1 diabetic children.

The Foundation later arranged with the Diabetes Association of Ghana to supply glucometers and test strips to the Achimota Diabetes Clinic.
